Washington Bay Area is home to as many varieties of yoga practice as there are ice cream flavors at Ben and Jerry’s. Aside from the traditional Hindu branches of Rāja Yoga, Karma Yoga (yoga of action), Jnana Yoga (yoga of knowledge), Bhakti Yoga (yoga of devotion), and Hatha Yoga, not to mention Ashtanga Yoga and its eight “limbs”, Yama, Niyama, Asana, and so on, there are also places to learn and practice Buddhist yoga: including Zen yoga, and yoga in both the Nyingma and Sarma traditions. But of course, we cannot forget Tantra yoga, laughter yoga, partner yoga, acro-yoga, and all the other creative offspring of traditional yoga traditions that have flourished in the area. The Washington Bay Area has as many yoga centers and schools as it does coffee shops, you can find one on almost every corner. There is yoga for every faith, age and preference. So get your yoga on…here you have a collection of educational articles and current, local classes/workshops available.
Come take a relaxing yet mentally and physically challenging yoga class on Saturdays at noon. My class is for anybody and everybody!! Beginners welcome, as well as advanced yoga practitioners.
This summer’s retreat sessions focus on awakening insights and fostering serenity that endures through all the stages of our lives. Teachings include Nyingma meditation, Tibetan Yoga and medicine, Nyingma Psychology, and Buddhist Studies.
