Kate Coletti, Licensed Midwife
About the practice
To put it simply, my passion and life's purpose is to serve and empower women and their families, especially in the childbearing year. I have always been interested in pregnancy and birth, but first received my calling to midwifery in 2002 after completing my massage certification through the Atlanta School of Massage. I immediately embarked on the long, yet tremendously rewarding path to become a midwife. Throughout my training at the Seattle Midwifery School (now Bastyr Universitys Department of Midwifery), I maintained my massage practice with a specialty in prenatal massage. In 2007 Bee Lauher and I launched PachaMama Midwifery. Our practice provides a safe, gentle and family-centered homebirth option to expectant mothers in the North Bay and is still thriving today. Another important part of my life and career, and perhaps the most fun thing I do, is teaching prenatal yoga. My primary teacher training in Anusara Yoga compliments my training in Whole Birth Yoga in 2006 and Yoga Tree Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training in 2008. I also enjoy my own personal yoga practice to maintain balance in my busy life. To add to the fun and craziness of my life, I also love to travel! In 2007 I visited the lovely South Pacific island nation of Vanuatu, there I served as a volunteer midwife in their small, and much-in-need hospital. That experience inspired me to become involved in international midwifery elsewhere. I have traveled overseas every year since, including spending 4 months in Africa in 2009. I plan to continue to travel and provide international midwifery aid as my life (and a new baby) permits, but for now I will continue to do all I can to serve women and families locally and around the world from my home in Sonoma, California.
