About the practice

Welcoming is the spirit of my work.  Whether you seek relationship coaching or private counseling, whether you're looking to join a Nonviolent Communication (NVC) practice group or need mediation, you are welcome here, and to the possibility of loving yourself more and more deeply, in ways that ripple out and impact all your relationships. \x7eThe Gist of My Work~ You are not bad. There is nothing wrong with you. You may think there is something wrong with you. You may think this a lot, you may think it all the time. But the truth is, there is nothing wrong with you. You are perfect as you are. You are whole as you are. The trick is to let our fear-based illusions to serve as reminders of what we love. Every trigger hides two open arms saying, come, come now, you are welcome here. Every trigger is an invitation for you to speak your heart. And, there is nothing wrong with your partner/friend/lover/mother/annoying neighbor, etc. The key is to let every trigger by another person serve as an invitation to be vulnerable. Instead of blaming the other for reminding us of our own fear-based illusions, we speak to the places inside of us that are scared of being revealed, and that have gotten really good at hiding. We talk to these voices. We say to them:  “Welcome. Come on out. It was a lie that you are not enough. It was a lie that there is something fundamentally wrong with you. Come home.” From here, we can speak from an undefended heart, and rediscover the love-based connections that are our birthright.   Contact me for relationship coaching, counseling, and NVC practice that facilitates the unguarding of our hearts and communication that is real, connecting, and compassionate.   In my work I use Nonviolent Communication (NVC), founded by Marshall Rosenberg and the Center for Nonviolent Communication in Albuquerque, NM. ----- Marina Smerling is a former attorney who is here to launch a love bomb on the epidemic of shame in our world. She is a relationship coach, mediator, counselor, and emissary of love. Drawing upon her long-time studies in Nonviolent Communication (NVC), her work is about being real, being present, inviting all the parts of ourselves we keep down because we believe they are too shameful, too ugly, too socially unacceptable to be seen. Her work is about loving ourselves unconditionally, and unleashing miracles in our lives. Relationship coaching and counseling in Berkeley California.
